Wesley House Community Services is celebrating 105-years of
service as it assists individuals to reach their goals and live life more abundantly.
During fiscal year 2007-2008 Wesley House served over 1,000
individuals. Youth were successful as they achieved goals in reading and
math while they worked to strengthen their morals and characters.
Children were provided with safe and affordable childcare as they
learned to play and interact.
Participants in the Computer Education training program gained self
confidence and knowledge in Microsoft Office skills. Wesley
House's computer education's bilingual instructor was able to meet the
need of participants who speak Spanish as a first language. The
bilingual instruction ensured these individual's success in
completing the class without a language barrier.
Wesley House employs (6) bilingual staff in Spanish and English
to support and continue the commitment to serving those with language
barriers. Wesley also provides GED instruction and English as a Second
Language through a partnership with Jefferson County Public Schools.
Wesley Wear House provides a gently used clothing store for those in
need and those who just want to "get a good buy." Many times shoppers
pay what they can afford and are offered large discounts.
Individuals utilized the "VITA Site" (Volunteer Income Site)
and were able to save hundreds of dollars. Over 700 free income tax
forms were processed during tax season.
Wesley House provides a vital and essential program for the
community. I invite you to come and visit Wesley House, volunteer
and give your time as we move forward in our quest to "helping people
help themselves."
Remember: When you donate to Wesley House, you contribute to the future
of families, individuals and the community. You can make a difference!
